The alarm is triggered when your bike is moved after the Kick Lock has been activated. 

When the bike detects movement, it will give a warning sound and flash its lights. If this movement continues for over a minute, the alarm will enter the second phase. The alarm now sounds continuously, and the lights keep flashing. Unlock your bike to stop the alarm – simply press the handlebar button when your smartphone is connected, or enter your backup code.

If the alarm isn't disarmed within two minutes, it enters its third phase. All sounds will stop, and the lights will flash S.O.S to indicate theft. The bike will automatically broadcast its location to VanMoof, and the motor and all smart functionality will be disabled. If you accidentally trigger the alarm’s third phase, and your bike locks down, just connect with your app and your bike will disarm again.
