Sometimes, it can happen that the bike doesn’t seem to charge. Then no charging symbol appears when you put the charger in the bike - even after trying to charge it for two hours. This event can occur together with one of the following symptoms:

  • The bike shows a skull animation or a padlock animation;

  • The battery was completely empty;

  • The bike doesn’t connect to the VanMoof app anymore. 

When the bike doesn’t charge and displays one of the symptoms mentioned above, it’s important to check the light on the charger, when it’s plugged into the bike.

**When the bike doesn’t charge, but doesn’t display any of the other symptoms mentioned above, then please consult the article My VanMoof S3 or X3 isn’t charging, or the charger isn’t working.

Does the charger light stay green when plugged into the bike? 

Then please proceed to book a repair appointment, so our Bike Doctors can check out your bike. 

Does the charger light turn red when plugged into the bike?

Then single press the power button to activate the battery and continue to charge the bike for one hour. After this, press the bell button and check if the bike responds. 

If yes, you can proceed to charge the bike until you’re good to go.

If the bike doesn’t respond to the bell button, please proceed to book a repair appointment with the Bike Doctors.
